Laser Cut Lake Maps - My New Favorite!

If you’ve been following me on Instagram, you might have seen some of the laser cut art I’ve been working on. I recently branched out to start designing some custom layered lake maps. I have seen some on Etsy or Pinterest before, but they were kind of “blah” and I just knew I could put my own spin on them and make something truly one of a kind and beautiful.

I started out with a few of the lakes we frequently visit (or at least my husband visits when he goes fishing) and the lake we got married by. Gray’s Lake Park was where my husband and I got married nearly 10 years ago! August 2012 - our 10th anniversary is coming up this summer! This one was pretty special to me and I plan to hang one up in our home as soon as I find the perfect place to hang it!

I also did a Big Creek Lake and Saylorville Lake, which are both a stones throw from our house here in Central Iowa. I’m hoping these will be a big seller when I bring them to local craft fairs this year.

I followed these up with a custom lake map of Minnetaki Lake in Ontario Canada for my brother in law. This was quite a bit more complex and needed a lot of hand tracing to create it. I am so happy I got an iPad last year, as it has been integral in creating these works of art. I have used it to trace the maps I’ve found online in Procreate and Affinity Designer. I’ve used a combination of both apps to create different elements of each design.

If you are reading this and have a special lake you’d like me to make, please send me a message. I think these will be amazing gifts for Father’s Day, Christmas or Birthdays, especially for a hard to buy for fishing or boating enthusiast! Custom landmarks can be added too!
